Ever wonder if spanking you kid helped or not?  You are not alone.   Lots of people, including research scientists, have questioned that.  Now a meta-analysis of 75 studies of spanking and results is out, and discussed in the Sep. 2016 issue of SCIENTIFIC AMERICAN MIND.  It seems many questions remain about the effects of spanking.  The authors wrote “Studies continue to find that spanking predicts negative behavior changes    —there are no studies showing that kids improve …. ”  Please see that meta-analysis.  It appears the researchers were concerned with the impact of spanking on the kids adjustment, not the association with reduced delinquency and crime later in life.  I could be wrong.  This would make a great thesis for someone out there!
